Variety: AMC kills 6, plans to renew THE KILLING

AMC had 6 pilots in the works and has surprised everyone by deciding to not move forward with any of them. It's so interesting watching this network evolve and mature. "According to insiders, AMC is tamping down on pilots not because of any financial restraint. With HELL ON WHEELS on tap and all of its shows continuing except for the one-season-and-out RUBICON the slate is reaching a saturation point. The net only offers originals on Sunday nights."

Thank goodness, there will be a 2nd season of THE KILLING, the most agonizingly slow storytelling I've seen on TV in ages (come to think of it, RUBICON was this slow, too. But, despite very good performances, nowhere nearly as addictive). I love this murder mystery. It's like a saner, post-9/11 version of TWIN PEAKS. The lead actress, her twitchy partner, and Billy Campbell's mayoral candidate are my favorite characters. Am hoping that season 2 revolves around a different case and that the Larsen murder is wrapped up soon.
